This music bar is a little hard to find and sits on a small dead end street between Thonglor Soi 9 and 11 across from Witch's Tavern. My first visit I went in expecting to relax with a nice glass off the vine and found the place completely packed. This 2 storey venue has a decent live band playing western oldies and apparently attracts a regular following. The second floor has two sections with one overlooking the band below and the second housing a couple of sofas and a TV (charmingly named The Livingroom). Atmosphere was good with high energy but unfortunately the bar is poorly designed making it difficult to get out of the way of the constant stream of service staff. Nice if you can get a seat and are in for a night of solid drinking but certainly not the relaxing wine bar venue I was expecting it to be.
- Tunage: mixed live band plays western tunes that are only a decade or two out of style
- Dance Floor: not really but you will see the odd farang kickin' up their heels trying to reclaim their youth
- Cocktails: while it positions itself as a wine bar you'd probably be more comfortable with a bottle of JW or a beer
- Drinks: bottles are available
- Price: moderate
- Location: Thonglor between Soi 9 and 11
- Seating: standard restaurant style tables and a few scattered stools seat about 80 before breathing difficulties set in
- Ambiance: charming but contrary to the misleading name a bit unrefined
- Pickup: good mixed crowd, loud tunes and liquor make for a standard formula
- Overall: higher energy than expected places it more in the ranks of a music bar
Mike Sightings: Unlikely that I'll return but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy yourself. For the lover of live music this would be a better option than the mumblings of most Thai bands trying to pull off western favs. My time is better spent with an early cocktail followed by a bottle at a club which provides little room for a venue of this type.
